FIRST GENERATION


1. Doc BUSBY was born into slavery in 1859 in Tennessee. When slavery ended he was 5 years old. Both his mother and father were also born in Tennessee however their names are not yet known.. In 1880 he resided in District 1 and 2, Tunica, Mississippi. At that time he was working as a farm laborer and he was living in Tate County (Mississippi) in the household of a Thomas Sales and wife Callie Sales. In 1990 Doc was residing in Desoto County, Mississippi. In 1910 Doc was living in Tunica County, Mississippi. He was a Farmer. The only other person in the household at that time was his wife Rachel (age 54). 

Doc Busby  died in Tunica County, Mississippi. His date of death is not yet known.

Doc Busby was married to Rachel HAMILTON on January 27, 1883 in Tate County, Mississippi.  Rachel HAMILTON was born into slavery in Mississippi 1856. In 1880 she was residing in Thyatira and Tyro, Tate County, Mississippi along with her brother Alex Hamilton.  She had a 7 year old daughter named Arie Hamilton and a 3 month old son named Winston Hamilton also living in the household at that time. In 1910 Rachel worked as a farmer on a home farm in Tunica County, Mississippi along with her then husband Doc Busby. By 1910 Rachel had given birth to 9 children, but only 4 were still living in 1910. Rachel died in Tunica County, Mississippi however her date of death is not yet known.

Doc BUSBY and Rachel HAMILTON had the following children:

child2 i. Arie HAMILTON was born in about 1873 in Tate County, Mississippi.

child4 iii. Carrie BUSBY was born in November 1883 in Tunica County, Mississippi.
child+5 iv. Henry BUSBY.
child6 v. Dock BUSBY Jr was born in September 1888 in Tunica County, Mississippi.
